Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association of Archaeology (GSAA) is the organization of all graduate students in the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). This includes students from the Ph.D. Interdepartmental Archaeology Graduate Program; the Conservation of Cultural Heritage M.A.; and the PhD program in the Conservation of Material Culture. In addition, the GSAA is also open to any graduate student at UCLA whose research or interests include matters related to archaeology. GSAA is a constituent body of the Social Sciences Council, the Graduate Students Association, and Associated Students UCLA.
Members of the GSAA participate in the organization of various programming, including but not limited to the biennial Graduate Archaeology Research Conference (the next conference will take place in Winter 2024), various lecture series hosted at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, archaeology-themed outreach events organized in collaboration with 826LA, the undergraduate-student-focused Archaeology Mentorship Program, and the Ask an Archaeologist initiative addressed to K-12 students, as well as quarterly social events for graduate students.
The association elects its own officers and student representatives to participate in Archaeology IDP and Conservation faculty meetings where GSAA representatives may place items of business on quarterly faculty meeting agendas, and voice student’ concerns.
Contact the GSAA Committee for more information and to be added to the GSAA mailing list to keep up-to-date with all our announcements and events.
