Introducing visiting researcher Greta Ugolotti
Greta Ugolotti is a visiting conservator researcher in the UCLA Materials Science and Engineering Department and will be working under Professor Dr. Ioanna Kakoulli’s supervision while at UCLA. Greta is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Materials Engineering, at the University of Bologna under Professor Dr. Enrico Sassoni. Ugolotti’s Ph.D. research project aim is to study the influence of different conditions of the substrate to the efficacy and durability of the ammonium phosphate treatment on supports affected by biocolonization, salts or weathered organic treatments, and pigmented substrates, such as wall paintings and plasters. Greta graduated in May 2020 with honors in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Bologna University and wrote a thesis on eco-sustainable and innovative products for the restoration of a late-roman marble sarcophagus in the UNESCO site of San Vitale in Ravenna.
