Celia Lober grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA and received her B.A. in Art History from UC Berkeley, where she helped lead departmental projects rendering photogrammetric models of Byzantine objects. She focused her curricular studies on accessibility through digital humanities and materiality of the ancient world.During her undergrad, she participated in a Balkan Heritage Field School project doing Roman mosaic conservation in Stobi, North Macedonia where she was introduced to archaeological conservation. The following year, she joined the 2024 season of the Archaeology of Death project at Porta Nola & Porta Sarno in Pompeii, Italy to better understand the archaeological process. After graduating, she worked on a diverse art collection developing a new cataloging and collection management system for a private collector. Through ARCIFS, she completed a course in wall painting conservation at Chiesa di San Francesco d’Assisi in Amelia, Italy.At UCLA, she looks forward to furthering her understanding of the materiality of cultural heritage and participating in community-focused research.
